How does it work?

How do I commission a painting?

  • Visit the Pick an artist page.
  • Choose which artist you want to do the painting.
  • Choose your painting by the size you want, or by price.
  • Decide to pay for your painting on completion and e-mail the artist you’ve chosen, or…
  • Avail of a 10% discount price by paying a deposit up front.
  • Agree to our terms and conditions (found here).
  • E-mail one or more photos of the house or scene you want painted (you will be prompted to do this).
  • Add any notes about the painting you want (for example, you want your neighbour’s house to be excluded from your painting, or you may need delivery of the painting by a specific date).

What happens after I order a painting?

  1. If you chose the 10% discount, you’ll receive automated e-mails so that you know that we’ve received your order.
  2. You’ll receive a personal e-mail from the artist you’ve chosen clarifying anything you’ve written in your notes, your order and anything else relevant to completing the painting.

I never received a confirmation e-mail that you received my order…

After ordering please make sure to check your junk mail, in case any of our e-mails end up there. If they have please add our e-mail address to your safe list. In the unlikely even that there is no e-mail after 24 hours in your junk or inbox, please contact us.

How long will it take you to paint and deliver the painting?

When you order we’ll advise you as to estimated completion time. Completion time is dependent on how busy we are with current orders. A painting can take as little as two weeks from uploading of a good-quality photo, to up to six weeks depending on other factors such as aesthetic decisions, paint drying time and consultation with the purchaser (you!). It’s best to give to whole process a little time to get it right.

I want to order a painting but it needs to be done quickly. Can you rush my order?

No, but…

If you have a particular date in mind that you need the painting for, please make sure to alert us when you first order. We can then tell you if that date is an achievable goal or not. If you need the painting as a gift why not consider purchasing a gift voucher instead?

I live in an apartment, can you paint my home for me?

Of course. All we need is a good quality photograph to work from. This should be taken from a good angle to show the apartment to its best advantage. We may decide together to include part of the apartments surrounding yours or to crop in close to only depict the exterior of your dwelling – depending on what you want. As always, if you have any specific needs include it in your notes when you order or send us an e-mail.

Do you take photos of our homes to paint from?

In the majority of cases, no we don’t. We are also both based in Ireland, so are limited as to where we can travel, whereas digital photos can travel to us within seconds from all over the world. Taking the photo yourself and sending it to us online speeds up the process between ordering and receiving your painting.

I have an old printed photo, how do I get it to you?

For non-digital images you can simply scan them to convert and save as a digital file. Very old photos tend to be quite small so scanning at a higher resolution is preferable. If you don’t have a scanner most towns have a service, usually linked to a camera shop, where this can be done. They may even help you with the process of e-mailing the image(s) to us.

What currency does your site accept?

All prices are quoted in euros as we are based in the Republic of Ireland, which is in the euro zone. However, payment through PayPal will allow automatic conversion from other currencies, so currency is not an issue. Note also that to pay with PayPal  ordinarily you do not need to create a PayPal account!

How do I pay for the finished painting?

We currently only take payment through PayPal and therefore do not store or save customers’ personal debit- or credit-card details. PayPal accounts are easy to set up and secure. However, if you don’t have a PayPal account, don’t worry – most people* can still pay us using PayPal without setting up an account. *In some cases PayPal doesn’t allow direct credit-card payments due to location or other reasons.

If you are paying us and don’t want to set up a PayPal account, then – on the PayPal site which you have clicked through to from our site, or from an e-mail from us – do the following:

  1. Select the ‘Don’t have a PayPal account’ option.
  2. Enter your credit-card details. You may also be asked for your postal address. Click ‘review and continue’.
  3. Click on ‘pay now’.
  4. When prompted to set up a PayPal account choose ‘no thanks’ option.

When do I pay for the completed painting?

When we’ve finished your painting we’ll e-mail you a photograph of it. If you’re satisfied with the result we then request full payment. As soon as the payment has cleared into our account (this can take 3 to 5 working days and in some cases longer) we will then carefully wrap and ship the your unique painting to you. When it’s been shipped, we’ll alert you and also let you know the estimated delivery time and tracking number where possible.

Note: If you’ve chosen a 10% discount you will have already paid 45% of the undiscounted price and on completion will pay the remaining 45% plus the small shipping charge.

Why have I been asked to pay a deposit?

At our discretion we may ask for you to pay a deposit before we begin work on your painting. There can be a number of reasons for this – your location, a special order, etc. The final payment will be calculated minus the deposit already paid.

I’m not happy with the painting…

Before we ship your painting to you we’ll send you a photo and ask you to confirm that you’re happy with the finished product. If for any reason you aren’t satisfied we’ll work with you to alter the painting to your satisfaction and then send you a further photo with the changes. Then:

  • If you are satisfied with the new version, we will take payment and deliver the painting.
  • If you are ultimately still not satisfied, we will at that point consider your order null and void and no artwork will be shipped and no payment will be taken. So we have taken the risk – that’s the way it goes.

I got the painting, now I want a refund

In the case where you have confirmed you’re happy with the completed painting and it has been shipped to you, but you later decide you are unsatisfied with it, please get in touch with us within 2 weeks and we’ll endeavour to figure out if we can alter it to better suit your expectations. If you would like your money back, we would ask only that you cover the return price of the postage back to us and once we receive the painting in the same good condition it was shipped in, we will refund you in full.

A painting of my home is on your website / blog / social media accounts…

We like to regularly update our portfolio with our latest works. Unless specifically requested, a photo of the portrait of your home may be periodically included on our website, social-media platforms, blog or printed materials for promotional purposes. However, if you don’t want us to do this, let us know and we will not show the images any more. Note:

  • We will never show the original photos of your house, unless you have explicitly given us permission to do so.
  • We will never reveal your identity, address or e-mail.
  • You will be given copyright of images of the finished painting – we only ask that we may use such images to show to others, but will not do this if you request otherwise.

Do you paint other subjects?

For now we are concentrating on painting house portraits and scenes. However, we of course have and do paint other subjects for our own personal work and commissions. If you have a specific request for a painting you’d like done, please get in touch and we’ll let you know if we think it’s something we can do for you.

I want a painting in a different size…

We offer three standard-sized canvases – small, medium, and large. All details can be found after you’ve chosen your preferred artist here. For anything non-standard just send us an e-mail and we’ll figure out estimated completion time and price.

Will my painting be framed?

No. We don’t provide frames for the paintings – first, because heavy frames will significantly add to shipping costs, second because framing taste is very individual and you may not like the frame we choose!

Can I order a painting to be delivered to someone else’s address?

Of course. Please ensure that you mention the name and delivery address within your e-mail /correspondence to us. If you would like us to include a personal note with the painting, please send the wording and your name and we’ll make sure that the person you’re sending it to as a gift knows it came from you!

Do you sign your paintings?

Yes. In one of two ways: either full name on the front, or initials on the front, in paint, with full signature on the canvas on the back. We also supply a certificate of authenticity.
