Privacy and cookies
Cookies make your visit to this site smoother – but we don’t collect any personal information about you by means of those cookies.
This site uses WordPress cookies to make your visit easier (they may appear tagged as ‘wordpress’ or ‘wp’, as ‘themify’, or as ‘cookies’ – the last of these to note whether cookies have been enabled by you) . Google also deposits cookies as part of its Analytics service (see next section), and there are two corresponding Analytics plugins which may create cookies as well (‘ga’, ‘gid’, ‘gadwp’).
If you contact us, we will use your email to respond to you, and we may – very occasionally – use your email to inform you of something relevant to you and this site. We will not share your contact info.
If you order a painting from us, we do not receive or retain any financial details – that is all handled by PayPal. We retain your name and address only until the order is completed and dispatched, after which all identifying information is removed from the transactions database. We don’t share any of this information. See below with regard to retention of emails.
The site uses Google Analytics as an aid to see how the site is performing, what pages get the most visits, etc. Google Analytics uses a user’s IP address (which looks something like ‘220.127.116.11’) to count visits and visitors. This IP address is anonymous as far as we are concerned (it’s not supplied to us by Google), and we get no information identifying users from Analytics.
All web hosting services are required to keep logs of any site activity, and these logs are held on the server of the hosting service. The information held includes IP addresses. Your IP address may be relatively fixed, or it may vary a lot; most people’s IP address changes from time to time, and IP addresses are often shared by a number of users at a single location – e.g., a workplace or house.
Most cookies on this site expire with the end of the user’s session. Google Analytics cookies appear to persist for about 2 years. Emails (if you contact us or we communicate about a commission) probably hang around in our mail program for a few years. Internet Service Providers retain logs of IP addresses indefinitely.
